ReFocus: Northeast Region

JCAHPO CE + Wellness for Ophthalmic Professionals Philadelphia, PA

Schedule Overview

We begin Thursday evening with an informal check-in — a light, welcoming opportunity to collect your retreat gift, confirm your CE login access, and meet fellow attendees in person or virtually. The program moves into full swing Friday morning, with dedicated sessions running through Saturday and a half-day wrap-up on Sunday morning.

Breakfast and lunch are included Friday–Sunday to keep your focus on learning and connection.

Focused Learning

Our first CE blocks each day are reserved for serious, high-impact topics in ophthalmology — the skills and knowledge doctors want their teams to master in 2025 and beyond. Led by a BSN-prepared RN specializing in infection control and ASC eye surgery, these sessions deliver both clinical depth and practical takeaways.
Sample course topics include:

  • Infection Control in Ophthalmic Surgery: Beyond the Basics

  • Endophthalmitis & TASS: Prevention, Recognition, and Response

  • Optimizing Surgical Workflow for Better Patient Outcomes

  • ASC Compliance Hot Topics: Staying Survey-Ready

  • High-Volume Clinic Efficiency: Lessons from Lean Six Sigma

Targeted Small Groups

Attendees can also join smaller focus groups tailored to shared challenges and career stages:

  • Ophthalmic Parents in Practice – Strategies for balancing clinical work with family demands

  • Early Career Techs – Core skills and growth strategies for your first decade in ophthalmology

  • The 10-Year Club (for techs with 10+ years of service) – Leadership, legacy, and mentoring the next generation

Wellness, Adapted for Eye Care

Our wellness sessions are grounded in the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) framework, modified for the realities of ophthalmic work. You’ll explore ergonomics, body mechanics, and stress reduction techniques designed for technicians and surgical staff. These approachable sessions are an introduction to the full YTT program — and can be credited toward the 200-hour certification for those who choose to continue.

Applied Lifestyle Strategies

Beyond the mat, we’ll also cover practical health and wellness topics for busy professionals, such as:

  • Healthy Eating on the Go – including keto and ketovore approaches

  • Meal Planning for the 8–5 Workweek

  • Time & Energy Management for High-Performance Roles

  • Stress Resilience in Clinical Environments

ReFocus is built for serious learners who value both their professional credentials and their personal health. Whether you join to fulfill CE requirements, explore advanced wellness training, or both, you’ll leave ready to excel — in the clinic and in life.
